Rossa Mk2 Build Up - The Finished Car

The front view This is the Rossa just after fitting the number plates and becoming a road legal car. The perspex headlight covers are still to be fitted, along with a multitude of other minor items.
The front compartment The front compartment contains the battery, remote brake master cylinder, screenwash bottle, spare wheel and jack. A fuel can and tool kit were also stored here to keep a reasonable amount of weight over the front wheels. The slot in the bonnet is for the heating and ventilation system. A black plastic mesh was later fitted over the slot to keep out leaves and small children.
The rear view Although this picture doesn't show it well, the low height of the car when viewed directly from behind makes it look low slung and purposeful. The slot in the engine cover lid was fitted with a black painted, steel mesh. The section of the mesh directly over the K&N air filter was also fitted with clear plastic sheet to keep rain off the filter.
The engine bay & boot The engine bay and boot are accessed by lifting the engine cover lid. The trim around the boot aperture and the foam rubber strip glued to the underside of the lid form a seal to keep dirt out of the boot. Mudguards were later added to the gaps in the tops of the wheelarches (front wheelarches as well) to stop road dirt from being flung onto the underside of the lid and into the engine bay. The number plate lamps and lock were mounted on the recessed overhang of the engine cover lid where they are sheltered from the rain.
The dashboard The completed dashboard together with the fitted carpets makes the Rossa's cockpit a very inviting place. It's amazing how the addition of some carpet and trim can lift the appearance of the car. A leathercloth cover was made to go over the foam padded roll hoop.
The fuel tank The leathercloth coated, boxed in fuel tank occupies the area behind the passenger seat (limiting the passenger's legroom - six footers should bear this in mind!) while the area behind the driver can be used to accommodate luggage. The recessed shelf on top can be used to store road maps and the like. The Recaro seats are from a Ford Escort and are well worth the effort adapting the mounting runners to fit the Rossa. The Recaro seats not only look good but are very comfortable and hold the occupant in place during spirited cornering.
