Rossa Mk2 Build Up - The MOT & Registration Inspection

At the MOT Station The Rossa up on the inspection ramp. Check your ground clearance beforehand - the adjustable suspension was still set low, requiring the use of some wooden planks to reduce the angle of attack on the ramp and prevent grounding the body tub.
The underside of the front compartment The front of the tunnel where the pipes are feeding into was later sealed using a can of expanding foam. The tiebars for the towing eye are silhouetted against the cylindrical moulding of the front tub (this part of the moulding is where the spare wheel sits). The flat underside of the tub and the wheel arches have since been coated in black rubber paint.
The underside of the engine bay The MOT inspector recommended that a means was found of keeping the flexible brake hoses away from the suspension arms and bump stops. This was achieved by using rubber straps (cut from a lorry tyre inner tube) suspended from the subframe by nylon cable ties. The rubber straps allow the hoses to move with the up and down movement of the wheel while also keeping the hoses apart, thereby preventing chafing. After a thorough inspection, the Rossa had passed its MOT first time round.
The Rossa loaded onto the trailer ready for inspection The local DVLA office at Newcastle required the Rossa to be taken by trailer for its registration inspection at the office. The relevant form (V627/1 - Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report) and paperwork (receipts, donor car documentation, etc) had been posted to the DVLA some weeks previous and an appointment made for the inspection. The inspection itself was quick and painless, resulting in an age related plate being assigned to the Rossa. After paying for a tax disk and fitting number plates, the Rossa was finally ready to hit the road!
