Rossa Update - Brake Servo

The brakes on the Rossa have never really inspired confidence. The unservoed master cylinder acts upon 4 pot disk calipers all round. although the car would always stop as required, the brake pedal needed stamping on to do so. When the Rossa failed its MOT on lack of braking effort, something had to be done. The solution was to fit a remote servo.

The remote servo The servo chosen was a dual circuit servo, made in Spain and obtained from Anthony Stafford Vehicle Components. A number of other GTM owners have also fitted this servo. As can be seen, the servo is composed of two separate hydraulic cylinders mounted either end of the vacuum chamber. On both cylinders, fluid comes in through the connection next to the vacuum chamber and out the connection at the end. Connctions are standard 3/8" UNF. A bleed screw is provided on each cylinder just before the output connection. The servo uses standard 3/8" bore vacuum hose.
The servo plumbed up in the front compartment The long vacuum hose has to pass through the car to the engine compartment, where it is plumbed into the inlet manifold using the normal take off pipe.
The tool tray A wooden tool tray was built to act as a protective cover for the servo and to provide much needed storage space for my toolkit. A socket set fits into the gap between the spare wheel and the tool tray wedging everything in place.
